Achievement - Mollar Basti
A fire outbreak had started at the middle part of Moller Bosti (slum) on March 12, 2018 approximately at 3:00am in the morning. The combined effort of community people and 23 no. fire brigade team were able to control fire by 6:00 am. More specifically Kabir Mullah slum, Jasim Mollah slum and Nagra Matbar slum were severely affected by the fire outbreak, where Elias Mollah slum had ablaze partially. Almost 2200 households turned into ashes completely. In this tragic circumstance, 5o peoples were injured and a lady of 70 years had with 80% burn ultimately succumbed to death at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. NGO representatives, law enforcing agencies, Local Member of the Parliament (MP) Mr. Elias Uddin Mollah have played a supportive role to rescue the victims during the fire outbreak. Mr. Anwar Hossain Bhuiyan, Slum development officer, DNCC has also visited the slum following the incident. Slum dwellers have no option except to stay under the open sky and staying there in an inhuman condition and misery. They are in an emergency need of food, drinking water, clothes, safe sanitation, shelter etc. DSK team has taken quick steps to support the victims having collaboration and support from local Ward Councilor, MP and other civil society stakeholders.
On June 19, 2016, Dr. Md. Jashim Uddin, Deputy Managing Director (Admin), PKSF, handed over the cheque of PFSF grant to Dr. Masudul Quader PhD, CEO, Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK). PKSF granted BDT 60 lac to seven different organizations as part of its socio-economic and Human-Capacity Development Programme. Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) is one of them. Socio-economic and Human-Capacity Development programme, is a new initiative of PKSF. Under the programme, PKSF aims to donate 0.01 percent of its yearly budget to different development organizations. This grant of 1.5 million taka will support Nayan Jogi Asrom and Orphanage at Chandigar in Durgapur of Netrakona district.
