Dr. Masudul Quader having a back ground of Agricultural Science worked with Government of Bangladesh for 26 years. During his carrier in GoB he served at BARI (Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute) and BAI (Bangladesh Agricultural Institute, presently Sherebangla Agriculture University). He started activities with DSK as an executive committee member in the year 1991 at that time he was a teacher in BAI. Beside his profession of teaching he took interest on micro credit and volunteered to start implementing Grameen Model of Professor Muhammad Yunus. In 1992 he joined National Dialogue organized by Prof. Yunus and visited one of the Grameen Bank Branch in Tangial. Having initial theoretical and practical knowledge of microcredit and how it helps the poor, DSK started replication at a slum of Dhaka City. The challenge was whether it would be feasible in a community who come from different parts of Bangladesh and leave on encroached land of Government under constant threat of eviction. Having initial small scale success DSK wanted to expand the service. At this stage Dr. Quader was asked to join as fulltime employee, which he did in the year 1996 taking lean from his job of research and teaching. After that he never looked back and left his job permanently in the year 2000. During his 18 years of involvement he piloted a number of innovative ideas to make the MF products more flexible and suitable for the poor. He did these experiments in collaboration with Grameen Fund, Grameen Trust, CARE Bangladesh, Plan International, Cord Aid and PKSF. At present he is leading a team of more than 700 microcredit service providers in DSK, his experience of replicating MF system not as copying only but also as an adopter of it so that the products become more attractive to the different strata of poor or even the non poor. At present the MF program of DSK serving 140,000 families leaving in fifteen district of Bangladesh through 84 branches located in both urban rural areas.
