With the support of International Organization for Migration (IOM), DSK provided inclusive WASH service in camp 18 for 1750 Rohingya family from February to April 2018 in the 1st phase of the project titled “WASH Support to the displaced Rohingya population in Ukhia upazila, Cox’s Bazar”. DSK implemented the 2nd phase (May to Oct 2018) for 4410 families in the same camp, the 3rd phase (Nov 2018 to Jun 2019) for 1486 families in camp 19.
The current phase has been running since July 2019 with the extended focus: to ensure effective, adequate and regular provision of life saving water and sanitation services through regular operation and maintenance of existing sanitation facilities for targeted 8,816 families having 40,037 individuals in camp 18 & 19.
DSK has been playing the role of WASH focal agency in camp 19. DSK mostly emphasizes on regular operation and maintenance of the existing WASH infrastructures to keep functional, water quality analysis and mitigation measure for improvement, rehabilitation/upgrading latrines and bathing facilities, de-sludge and decommissioning latrines, sludge waste management and hygiene promotion.
