Services offered at the Hospital |
Hospital Team
The hospital team is currently headed by a Gynaecologist. She is assisted on the team by a number of in-house doctors (including a surgeon and a sonologist) and nurses. A number of additional contact specialists can be called on by DSH when required .
There are 12 Nurses in the hospital team. They serve patients outdoors, in the laboratory and indoors. Among these staff members four are nursing diploma holders others are assistant nurses who gained previous experience working in hospitals. Operation theatre nurse renders services at the operation theatre and labour room. In addition to the nurses there are supporting staff. For example, a radiographer provides x-ray services to the patients.
Outdoor service: Non-emergency outdoor functions are operated twelve hours a day. However, emergencies are attended as and when required 24 hours.
Indoor services: Admission, Labour and General surgical operation theatre services.
Investigation services
Laboratory
An external pathological laboratory started functioning since the start of the hospital. This was deemed necessary due to the large amount of testing required for full diagnosis of some patients. The laboratory functions all days of the week without holidays. Service delivery has been contracted out to one pathologist and two medical technologists. In addition, the hospital has given support of one nurse to the laboratory as well as equipping it with reagents supplied to support the DSH project.
