Ultrasound service
DSH provides ultrasound services to both outdoor and indoor patients . Sonologist renders an every day service. This sonologist responds to emergency calls.
Radiography service
The Hospital renders an x-ray service twelve hours a day. A 100M small capacity machine has been installed for out-patients of the hospital. A technologist has been appointed from the start of the project. A radiologist has been contracted for the interpretation of x-ray films.
Laboratory charges
Laboratory charges are set with comparison to the market rates offered by commercially run laboratories in Dhaka. It was found that labs pay a service charge to doctors ordering the investigation and that this charge was almost fifty percent of the unit rate of the test.
DSH decided not to pay a fee to doctors ordering the investigation. Therefore, it was possible to fix the rates well below commercial set-ups. In fact, the price more than halved.
Ultrasound charges
When deciding x-ray and ultrasound service rates the aim was to keep it below those quoted commercially. In doing so DSH initially calculated the actual recurrent cost for the services. Further analysis was given taking into account capital and operating costs for the service. Later we arrived at an assumptive rate that is at least 20-25% lower than commercial rates; and decided to review the rate structures at the end of first year service of the project.
Current USG service rates are as follows: - Whole Abdomen: Tk 400 , Lower abdomen : Tk 300.
Bed charges
Bed Charges are calculated by taking the monthly rental costs for the hospital building into consideration.
Standard bed charge is Tk.90, and cabin charge is Tk.600 (non AC) and Tk. 800 (AC).
