When DSK observed in the city areas the septic tanks overflowed and untreated fecal sludge started to pollute the environment which in turn brought a substantial threat to public health and the environment, at that time it started this project. Vacutug is a suction pump to suck out fecal sludge from the septic tank or from the pit, and after collection, the waste is transferred to the dumping site. Special purpose of this project is to ensure hygienic waste management as well as build environment friendly disposal system in the city. The service price has been fixed regarding removing waste at taka 1000, 1200 and 1500 2000 for 2000, 2000 and 2000 liters for slum, residential and commercial areas accordingly. Though the vecutag project started with the help of Water Aid but after the initial grant period, the project activities have been going on in a self-financed mode.
