Seminar on Impact of Microfinance on the Socioeconomic Well-being of Households in Haor Areas of Bangladesh
The Development Studies Department of Dhaka University, in collaboration with the Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK), has conducted a joint research titled “Impact of Microfinance on the Socioeconomic Well-being of Households in Haor Areas of Bangladesh.” To present the findings of this study, DSK’s Research and Knowledge Management Department organized a seminar on 13 October 2025 at the DSK Head Office conference room.
The research findings were presented by Professor Dr. M. Abu Yusuf, Professor Dr. Naeem Sultana, and Associate Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Khaleq from Dhaka University’s Development Studies Department.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Nur Mohammad Talukdar (President, DSK), Professor Dr. A.S.M. Golam Mortuza (Secretary General), Habib Uddin (Treasurer), Dr. Dibalok Singha (Executive Director), Md. Hamidul Islam (Deputy Executive Director), Dr. Mahmudur Rahman (Director-Health), Mr. Shamsul Alam (Director, Microfinace), Sarder Shahidul Kabir (Deputy Cheif, Microfinace), F.M. Arman Ahmed (Joint Director, Financial Analysis), Md. Abu Bakr (Joint Director, Training), Md. Faizus Salehin (Joint Director, Audit), and Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam (Head of Research and Knowledge Management Department). Also present were other senior DSK officials and Mirza Roknuzzaman, Deputy Director of the Monitoring Department.
The seminar provided an important platform for academics and development professionals to exchange knowledge and share experiences, contributing significantly to the field of development studies and microfinance interventions in the Haor region.
