Self-reliance Building and Disaster-risk Reduction Project

The project is being implemented at Sarankhola and Barguna Sadar in Bagerhat. After the completion of the five-year project in the first phase, the two-year extension phase started in February 2019. The idea of poor women becoming self-reliant is being promoted by the project. As a result of the project, community-based poor women’s organizations have increased strong cooperation and accessibility to Union Parishads, resulting in solid preparedness to reduce future disaster risk. They are also playing a leading role in realizing the rights of disadvantaged people. The project has so far completed formal registration of four CBOs. In addition, these registered associations have been able to keep their savings collection regular and revolving loan activities maintained.
