WASH Project supported by Water Aid

Two projects are being implemented in Dhaka and Chattogram with financial support of Water Aid. The water, sanitation and hygiene projects in Dhaka and Chattogram are generally working with city corporations in low-income areas. Initiatives have been taken to strengthen water, sanitation, and hygiene services and their practice at schools. As part of its WASH project and with support from Chattogram City Corporation, DSK had installed a Fecal Sludge Management Plant in Chattogram. However, because of road in accessibility, that remains underutilized. On the other hand, DSK is managing seven Public Toilets in Chattogram City Corporation area. These toilets are running successfully. Chattogram city Corporation has promised to solve the problem of the Fecal Sludge Management Plant (FSM), and has suggested that additional public toilets may be given to DSK for their standard operation and maintenance. In the bygone year, 1,619,208 people used these toilets. Out of the above, 637,058 were in Dhaka and 7, 81,970 in Chattogram. Moreover, street Hydrants have been installed at various street junctions in Chattogram. This work is being done through local participation.
